Release Notes August 15, 2025

This document outlines the latest updates for Emburse Professional. Changes include new features, improvements, and upcoming improvements to improve expense reporting, API querying, and vendor payment processes.

Features

Expense

Create an expense report by card

Deployment Schedule: Starts August 13, 2025 and will be available to all customers by August 29, 2025.

To support our end users who want to align their credit card statements with their expense reports, we have added a new way to build an expense report. The new option, Add credit card transactions to a report, will automatically build an expense report with only the transactions linked to your company credit card.

Users will be prompted to select one or more cards in the Create a New Expense Report dialog.

Users will also be able to select a Start Date and End Date range, ensuring the transactions included align with their company credit card statement cycle.

Different logic will be used when determining which expenses and receipts are included in the report, compared to the traditional report creation methods:

  • Only the expenses linked to the selected credit card will be included in the report
  • Manually created expenses will not be added to the report automatically
  • Receipt images that merge to a credit card transaction will be included.
  • Receipt images that do not merge to a credit card transaction will not be added to the report automatically, but may be added manually if necessary.

This method helps organizations align expense reports with corporate credit card statements, which supports a consistent approval process and faster reconciliation.

Integrations

Query the API by expense date and posting date

We have added two new parameters to the Expense API to make it simpler to pull the specific data set you need.

Customers may now query the expense endpoints by Expense Date or Expense Posting Date. The “Expense Date” refers to the date assigned to the expense line, which is visible when looking at the expense line on a report. The “Posting Date” is typically supplied by a customer’s credit card provider and refers to the date the credit card transaction is posted to the customer’s credit card statement. Please note that the presence of a Posting Date on an expense is dependent on the credit card provider or the entity supplying Emburse with the credit card data.

Customers can supply a datetype parameter of “3” to query by Expense Date. Alternatively, customers can supply a datetype parameter of “4” to query by Posting Date.

In addition to supplying a datetype parameter, customers must also supply a startdate and enddate parameter to retrieve transactions successfully.

For example, supplying a datetype parameter of 3, a startdate of 2025-01-01, and an enddate of 2025-12-31 will return all expenses with an Expense Date between January 1st and December 31st of 2025.

Payments

Vendor payments organization’s name added to the paper check issued to vendors

Organizations utilizing Emburse’s payment services through Convera have always had the option to pay their vendors via a paper check, rather than an electronic ACH payment. However, the printed check lacked important details, which made it time-consuming for an organization’s vendor to process their payment.

Going forward, the organization’s name will be printed in the check’s memo field, as well as the applicable invoice number, to make things easier for the Vendor to associate the payment with a particular invoice and account.

Plan for Change (Releasing Soon)

Mobile receipt capture improvements

Significant improvements to the receipt capture process on Emburse Mobile. Aimed at simplifying and speeding up the receipt capture process, we are making things easier for our users to capture their receipts and submit expenses.

  • Receipt Auto-Detection helps users to take the perfect photo, and prevents photos of partial receipts
  • Auto-Cropping removes unnecessary background imagery. Don't like our crop? Don't worry! You can manually crop any receipt to your liking
  • Distortion Correction and Legibility improvements change the photo perspective and remove artifacts, improving readability and significantly improving OCR accuracy

All these changes will be available in Emburse Professional Mobile v3.3.1, coming soon!
