Organizations that use company credit card programs can connect their card programs to Emburse Professional to automatically import card transaction details to users' Wallets. This simplifies expense submission for users.
This article is for administrators who want to connect a small business card program to Emburse Professional.
Before You Begin
Some financial institutions connect to Emburse Professional differently. If your organization uses one of the following card programs, review the related article before you continue:
- Emburse Card Programs: Connect an Emburse Card Program
- American Express® Corporate Card Programs: Connect an American Express Corporate Card Program
- American Express® Business Card Programs: Connect an American Express Business Card Program
- Capital One Card Programs: Connect a Capital One Card Program
- All Other Corporate/Commercial Card Programs: Depending on your organization size and card provider, your organization may qualify for an automated data feed directly from your card issuer to Emburse. Contact your financial institution account representative and ask whether your organization qualifies for a VCF4 file feed for Visa issuers or a CDF3 file feed for Mastercard issuers. If your organization qualifies, contact Emburse Support to configure the automated data feed.
Connect a Small Business Program
A small business card program is connected once at the administrative level. This connection retrieves all applicable cards from your organization's card program. Administrators can map cards to individual employees after the cards are retrieved.
Individual employees do not need to take action during this process. They also do not need login credentials for your organization's online banking platform.
- Open the Configuration page.
- Under System Integrations, select Manage your Card Programs.
- Select Add A Card Program.
- Select the appropriate financial institution. If your financial institution does not display, select All Other Banks.
- Select Business Credit Cards.
If your organization has a corporate or commercial card program, review the guidance in the Before You Begin section.
- A new window opens and connects you to Finicity, the third-party data aggregator that retrieves your cards and transactions. Select Continue to Finicity.
- Review or download the Mastercard terms of use and privacy statements. Then, select Next.
- Optional: Enter your phone number for faster connection in the future. To skip this step, select Maybe later.
- Search for and select your financial institution.
- Follow the steps from your financial institution and select the applicable cards and accounts when prompted.
You will be prompted to enter online banking credentials to authorize the connection. We recommend that you log in with program administrator credentials so that all cards can be retrieved and connected in one step.
Individual cards and card numbers may not display during this step. You may only see the parent or primary cards during the connection process. All cards download after the connection is complete.
- After you return to Emburse Professional, confirm the accounts that will be connected. Select Confirm.

- Select Return to Emburse Professional.
- Wait for card data to download. Depending on your financial institution, the download may take a few minutes.
- Review the card mapping. Emburse Professional attempts to map cards to users based on cardholder information from your financial institution.
If cardholder information cannot be retrieved through the connection, you must manually map the cards to employees. Administrators can change mappings or map cards that cannot be mapped automatically. Cardholder information is dependent on the financial institution supplying the data.
After a card is mapped to an employee, the employee can view the card details on the Account Settings page. The employee does not need to take action. New transactions will automatically import to the employee's Wallet after the transactions post to the card statement.
Manage Your Card Program
You can return to the Manage Your Card Programs screen at any time to perform the following actions:
- Edit: Change the program name. This updates the program name that appears next to the last four digits of the card in the Wallet, in expense reports, and reporting.
- Edit Mapping: Map unmapped cards or remap cards to different employees. Cards can be mapped or remapped at any time. If a card is mapped to a new employee, transactions that previously imported to the original employee remain with that employee.
- Transaction Management: If you need to import historical transactions that posted to your card statement before you connected the card program to Emburse Professional, contact Emburse Support.
- Delete Connection: Delete the connection if necessary. We recommend that you keep the connection active and unmap all cards if you no longer want transactions to import automatically.
Detect New Cards
If a new card is created for an employee, the card and its transactions automatically download to Emburse Professional through the integration. Use the Edit Mapping screen to assign the card to the correct employee.
